Merlyn Electronics has won the contract to supply low energy illuminated signage
to the Manchester Airport Group Plc (MAG) for the next 3 years beating off
competition in an 8 party tender. The award will see Merlyn supply over 1000 illuminated way-finder signs to the terminal buildings and public areas on the airport site as part of the MAG Plc environmental ‘Masterplan’.
Merlyn has undertaken an extensive project of research and development to create a new ultra low energy illuminated sign solution. The result has been a system that can deliver significant reductions in energy consumption whilst maintaining high luminance from the signs.
An initial target was set to design a sign solution that would deliver a 75% energy saving on the conventional fluorescent units. After 7 months work we are now consistently demonstrating savings of as much as 82% on new trial units.
